The AACIS New Mexico Animal Control Officer Certification Course is an instructor-led course designed for students who are interested in obtaining a Florida animal control officer certification as prescribed under Florida Statute 828.27(4)(a)(1).
Registrants will participate in open discussions and participate in classroom activities on topics including, but not limited to:
- Role of public service
- Animal control officer ethics & professionalism
- Animal welfare assessments
- Field operations
- Investigative report writing
- Interview skills
- State and tribal animal laws
- Animal knowledge
- Internal and external parasites
- Rabies awareness and prevention
- Animal cruelty investigations
Completion Standards
Completion of this course requires that all registrants attend the entire course, participate in all discussions and hands-on training exercises, pass a written examination with a score of 80% or higher.
Certifications Provided
Registrants that successfully pass this course will receive a certification from the American Animal Cruelty Investigations School with the designation:
- Animal Control Officer – State of New Mexico (Module A)
