Course Description
The AACIS Chemical Immobilization Certification Course is an instructor-led course designed for law enforcement and animal care and control professionals whose duties may require the use of anesthetizing chemicals to immobilize an animal for the purpose of capturing it.
Registrants will participate in open discussions and demonstrate proficiency in animal knowledge, pharmacology, dosage calculations, decision-making, handling post-capture emergencies, equipment handling, and proper documentation of a chemical immobilization operation. Additionally, students must demonstrate marksmanship, projector safety, and qualify on the range with a projector.
Completion Standards
Completion of this course requires that all registrants attend the entire course, participate in all discussions and hands-on training exercises, pass a written examination with a score of 75% or higher, and pass the practical assessment test in the areas of drug calculations, marksmanship, scene assessment, and drug handling.
Certifications Provided
Registrants that successfully pass this course will receive a certification from the American Animal Cruelty Investigations School with the designation as a certified Chemical Immobilization Technician.
